Software Tips & Tricks Inserting a Graphic into an Address Label in Word 2000 and Word XP(2002)

By Laura Noble

Word makes creating a full sheet labels (all the same) relatively easy, but what if you also want to add a graphic to the address label?

  1. Select Tools, Envelopes and Labels

In Word XP: Tools, Letters and Mailings, Envelopes and Labels

  2. Click on Labels Tab and click Options button and select Label size, click OK

  3. Click New Document button

  4. Word will create a new document with a Label template. If gridlines of label are not displayed, click the Table menu and click Show Gridlines

  5. In the first label fill in address information

  6. In the same label add graphic (Insert, Picture, From File)

  7. Graphic may not align with text (see sample above). To align with text: select the graphic and click the Text Wrapping icon on the Picture toolbar and select Square. Resize and move graphic to desired position on label.

  8. Verify insertion point is in cell with address and graphic and then select entire cell: Table, Select, Cell

  9. Select Tools, Envelopes and Labels

In Word XP: Tools, Letters and Mailings, Envelopes and Labels

  10. Click New Document button

  11. A full page of the same labels will appear in a new document with graphic and address.
